March Haul

Hello guys! Today, I’ll show you my recent acquisitions for this month. Unlike most recent acquisitions/haul post, my haul is mostly composed of books and random whatnot.

Ninja, Voyeur or Insurgent?

That is M, my sleeping buddy. I bought him (I’d like to think he is male) over a year now from a thrift shop near our place for only 50 php and we’re stuck like glue ever since.  If he looks familiar, that is because he is one of Totoro’s friends in the anime movie, My Neighbor, Totoro. 

Anyway, I got him washed couple of days back and to my horror, his ears started to become floppy.  Apparently, my trusty buddy is showing signs of wear and tear. In fact, he had his ears stitched months ago. Good thing Mom put him inside a pillowcase to avoid further damage. Too bad, I can’t see his entire cuteness anymore. But at least, it’s less depressing to see him. Now he looks like a ninja or even a voyeur or an insurgent. Nah, he’s too cute for those, what do you think?

Cookie-Mini Review

It’s been around a month since I had my shiny LG Cookie-Mini or simply known as LG T300 and today I’ll provide you guys with a quick review.

Pros

Very light and convenient

Good sound quality

Good camera (under sufficient lighting)

Can record phone conversations

Can record directly from FM radio

Sturdy

Cons

Slow, doesn’t respond easily

Not suitable for people with big fingers

Can’t listen to music/radio while texting

If you’re listening to a certain station for a time, radio dial goes back to the first station once you change the station

No Wi-Fi

What I really like about this phone is the cute cartoon user interface (which accommodates my childishness haha!) and its convenience. Looking at the pros and cons, I think it has a fair share of them.  Thus, I still like my Cookie-Mini over other phones. It’s also pretty sturdy. Less than a week after I bought it, it accidentally got soaked in water for half an hour due to my clumsiness. It took some days for the water to dry completely but it was still back to its normal working condition.

This could be the perfect phone for me only if it has: Wi-Fi, 3 MP camera, higher memory, faster response and most of all if it’s in clamshell. But since this phone only provides some basic necessities, I couldn’t ask for more.

If you’re like me who’s looking for a phone that can provide the basics and convenience at the same time, this might be the phone for you. But I don’t think this phone is still available because when I bought mine there were only a few of them and LG is no longer making this model. Don’t lose hope though, this phone is one of LG’s best sellers, I’m optimistic that LG will make something similar to it. Who knows, it might even better?

New Phone!

It has been four years since I had my first phone and it was already showing signs of wear and tear that's why I needed to buy a new one. My new phone was an LG Cookie Mini T300 which I bought over a week ago.  My entire family was complaining that it was like a toy, but that’s exactly why I wanted it. Anyway, I also scored matching pink earphones for only 88php. :) Will make a review in the coming days. 

Mystery Package: A Wig from Pack This!

I know this is extreeeemely late but to those of you who are curious about my package last month, here it is. Tadah!

Yes, it is a wig: the thing on which I spent my sentimental money. Wondering why? See, I've always had the same hairstyle since birth and I want a change but not yet ready to give up my curls. Nearest resort: buy a wig.

Really want to buy it the moment I saw it months ago, but I didn't have the budget at the time. Thought it was already sold so when I found out that it was still on sale, I'm certain there is no stopping especially now that I have the money.

I look different and I love it.

By the way, I've bought this from Pack This! Will make a store review in a while. ;)

Mystery Package :)

The item which I spent my sentimental money on (mentioned on my previous post) finally arrived. Can't wait to open it. Will post about it soon.

Sentimental Money

This was given by Dad last New Year and I promised myself not to spend it because of its sentimental value and I know I'm one of the few who got my hands on the newly-designed Philippine currency. But a few days ago, I've saw something that I wanted to have for the longest time. So, I've decided to say goodbye to this. Bye bb, hope I'll see you in the future. :)

Merry Meet Zephyr

A few days before my 22^nd birthday, Dad already gave me a gift. It was a shiny (insert sound fx here) Nikon D7000. Yehey! After eons of waiting I finally own one (well not entirely since I share with my Dad). As I’ve decided, I’ll call my first DSLR Zephyr. I originally want to name it Cinnamon but I save that one for my lomo camera. I think Zephyr is a cooler sounding name for a DSLR. Haha.  

Dad also bought a 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Honestly, I’m only expecting an entry-level one. Zephyr was an entry-level DSLR yes but it has more advanced features which means I need to work pretty hard to be deserving of it. I know I have yet to familiarize myself with all the settings and have to do a lot of shooting. Just to clear things up, I’m not really a complete novice when it comes to photography. I’ve been taking photos for years now using digicams I borrowed from my classmates. I also took a Photojourn class when I was in college. It was only last year when I had finally had my own digicam. But still I’m not that confident, well at least for now, but I know I’ll definitely reach my dream to be a professional photographer. By the way I call my first digicam Kiera.

Just a little background. I practically grew up with my Dad’s photography. He’s not a professional photographer but he’s an absolute enthusiast. At that time, I didn’t really pay much attention to photography or to what I think is a simple picture taking. The only time I got interested in it was when I attended a basic photography workshop last 2007 at the Metropolitan Museum. I’ve learned a lot of stuff from it but somehow I’ve felt that I was left behind because all of my classmates were using DSLRs. Naturally, I envy them. Using a DSLR has its perks like instant results unlike using film wherein results would took a while, not to mention that it’s more expensive. It was also at that time that I got fond of stalking a certain blogger/photographer/artist and I admit she had inspired me a lot that I realized that I also want to be a professional photographer (and an artist as well) like her.  Flash forward to this day, now that I have Zephyr, I know I’m much closer on becoming one.
